Species Origins: The Story Behind NuPalz's Fire-Type Companions
From the curious flame of Flamekin to the cosmic rebirth of Solarix, fire-type companions bring warmth, power, and personality to Nutopia. Seven species share the flame — each with its own story, ability, and evolution path. Here's everything that makes them burn bright.
What Unites the Fire Family
Fire-types in NuPalz span from common to legendary, from spirit-touched elemental to fusion-powered reactor. What links them? Heat, passion, and a refusal to go out quietly. Whether they're toasting marshmallows, melting steel, or reviving from ashes, these companions embody transformation and intensity. Fire beats Nature, Ice, Steel, Sweet, and Beast — but watch out for Water, Rock, Ground, and Dragon opponents.
The Seven Fire-Type Species
Flamekin
Fire / Spirit · Common
A small fire elemental whose entire body is one warm, friendly flame that flickers with curiosity. Flamekin wants to touch everything and learn about everything, which occasionally causes problems involving curtains. Impossible to freeze, wonderful for camping trips, and genuinely hurt when you blow out candles. They had feelings too.
Inner Fire — Immune to freeze effects
Evolution: Flamekin → Embersoul → Pyrespirit (Lv. 1, 100, 500)
Pybble
Fire / Rock · Uncommon
A sturdy lava mole with ember crystals growing from its back like a natural forge. Pybble takes guarding its trainer VERY seriously and has strong opinions about who is allowed within hugging distance. Its idea of relaxation is sitting in active volcanoes. Great at toasting marshmallows, terrible at keeping houseplants alive.
Forge Fire — Reduces crafting costs by 20% at The Iron Forge
Evolution: Pybble → Pyclast → Volblaze (Lv. 1, 100, 500)
Embark
Fire / Beast · Rare
An absurdly loyal fire puppy whose flame-tipped ears perk up the instant you think about coming home. Embark guards your items with burning determination and has never once been successfully bribed. Wags its ember tail so hard when happy that nearby candles spontaneously light. Will absolutely fetch that. And that. And also that.
Loyal Guardian — +15% Defense, takes 15% reduced damage when protecting allies
Evolution: Embark → Blazehound → Infernog → Solcanis (Lv. 1, 100, 500, 1000)
Blazefury
Fire / Dragon · Rare
A terrifying tyrannosaur-dragon hybrid perpetually wreathed in flames whose roar can literally melt steel. Blazefury gets angrier and more powerful as battles progress, building to volcanic fury. Surprisingly gentle with its trainer, though, and just wants to be told it's a good dragon. Very sensitive about its tiny arms. They're perfectly fine arms.
Volcanic Rage — Fire damage increases by 5% each turn (max 50%)
Evolution: Blazefury → Infernosaur → Magmawyrm → Volcanoking (Lv. 1, 100, 500, 1000)
Mindflare
Psychic / Fire · Unique (Achievement: Psychic Master)
A phoenix with a mystical third eye that burns with psychic flames. Mindflare controls fire through sheer force of thought and finds physical contact with flames to be "terribly pedestrian." Communicates telepathically because speaking aloud is "inefficient." Secretly enjoys being petted but will never admit this. Your thoughts are very loud, by the way.
Mind Burn — Psychic attacks deal fire damage over time
Evolution: Mindflare → Pyrokinetic → Blazemind → Infernomancer (Lv. 1, 100, 500, 1000)
Ignix
Fire / Tech · Epic
A fusion reactor given sentience, burning with the fury of contained suns. Ignix's power grows as battle rages, eventually reaching meltdown levels of destruction. Displays its current power level on a helpful gauge. When it reads "CRITICAL" maybe stand back. Far back.
Critical Mass — Damage increases by 8% per turn (max 64%)
Evolution: Ignix → Plasmix → Fusiona → Novacore (Lv. 1, 100, 500, 1000)
Solarix
Fire / Light · Legendary
A phoenix reborn from the heart of a dying star. Solarix radiates warmth and hope, its mere presence healing allies and inspiring courage. The embodiment of renewal. Has a playlist of inspiring montage music. Plays it during resurrections. Every. Single. Time. No exceptions.
Solar Rebirth — Upon fainting, revives once at 50% HP (once per battle)
Evolution: Solarix → Dawnara → Solarflux → Stellablaze → Novara (Lv. 1, 125, 625, 1500, 3000)

Fire in the Battlegrounds
Knowing your fire-type's matchups is key. Fire hits super effectively against Nature, Ice, Steel, Sweet, and Beast — ideal for shredding Grass-types, freezing opponents, and melting armored foes. But Water types will douse you. Rock and Ground resist fire. And Fire-types resist each other, so mirror matches can drag on.
Fire-Type Matchups
- Strong against (2x): Nature, Ice, Steel, Sweet, Beast
- Weak against (0.5x): Water, Rock, Ground, Fire, Dragon
Did You Know?
Blazefury and Ignix both ramp up damage over time — Blazefury by 5% per turn (cap 50%), Ignix by 8% per turn (cap 64%). Pair either with a tank like Embark or a healer like Solarix, and you've got a team that gets stronger the longer the fight lasts. Solarix's Solar Rebirth means it can come back from a knockout once per battle. Plan around that second life.
