NuPalz Fishing: Cast Your Line and Reel in Rewards
Fishing is one of the most relaxing ways to earn NP in NuPalz — and one of the most rewarding if you master the reeling mechanic. Set against the starlit shores of Skipper's Lake, the game combines a power-meter cast with a directional quick-time reeling challenge. Here's how it works and what you can catch.
How Casting Works
Mechanic The Power Meter
- Hold to charge. When you start a cast, a power meter begins filling. The longer you hold, the further your line goes.
- Release to cast. Let go at the right moment to send your line out. Cast strength affects what you can attract — higher power casts can reach deeper water where rarer fish swim.
- Wait for the bite. Once your line is in the water, watch for the bite indicator. When a fish takes the bait, it's time to reel.
The Reeling Challenge
Mechanic Directional Reeling
- Arrow prompts appear on screen. When a fish bites, you'll see a sequence of directional prompts: up, down, left, and right arrows.
- Match the directions quickly. Press the correct arrow key (or tap the direction on mobile) before each prompt times out. Each correct input counts as a hit.
- Accuracy determines your catch. The more prompts you hit correctly, the better your chances of landing the fish — and the higher the rarity you can reel in. Miss too many and the fish gets away.
Fish Rarities
Every catch in Fishing falls into one of six rarity tiers. Rarer fish yield better NP rewards, and your reeling accuracy plays a direct role in which tier you land.
Bring a Pal Along
Tip Companion Bonuses
- Select a companion before casting. You can bring one of your adopted palz along on your fishing trip. A dropdown at the top of the game lets you choose which pal to bring.
- Resting palz can't join. If a pal is currently resting from a previous activity, they'll appear grayed out in the selection. Choose a pal that's ready to go.
- Level matters. Higher-level palz provide better bonuses. Investing time in leveling your companions pays off across all activities, including fishing.
Where Fishing Fits in NuPalz
Fishing is one of 19 games available on NuPalz, and it occupies a unique spot in the lineup. While games like Coin Flip and Peg Drop are quick-hit luck-based games, Fishing rewards skill and timing. It's a game you can settle into for a longer session, building up NP through consistent accurate reeling rather than single big bets.
The Skipper's Lake setting is shared with the Stone Skipping game, giving the lakeside area its own distinct atmosphere with ambient star effects and original synthesized audio. If you enjoy the pacing of fishing, Stone Skipping offers a similar relaxed-but-skilled experience at the same location.
Tips for Better Catches
Tip Improve Your Reeling Accuracy
- Focus on the center of the screen. Arrow prompts appear in a consistent location. Keep your eyes on the prompt area rather than watching your line.
- Use keyboard controls on desktop. Arrow keys give faster, more precise input than clicking directional buttons. On mobile, tap the directional buttons firmly.
- Don't rush between prompts. Each prompt has its own timer. Pressing an arrow key before the next prompt appears doesn't give you a head start — wait for the prompt, then respond.
- Aim for full power on your cast. Stronger casts access deeper water with better fish. The power meter is forgiving — you don't need pixel-perfect timing, just hold a bit longer.
Recent Improvements
Fishing received several reliability fixes in the May 2026 platform update. Reward payouts now settle exactly once per catch (a rare double-settlement bug was fixed at the database level), and all NP earned from fishing is correctly tracked for achievement progress. If you tried fishing before and ran into issues, it's worth another cast.
Cast Your Line
Fishing is free to play for all NuPalz players. Bring a pal, aim for the deep water, and see if you can reel in a Legendary catch.
